This device can reflect the combustion performance of the flooring material, including the substrate used. Changes in the backing material, bottom layer material, or other aspects of the flooring material may affect the test results. It is used to test and describe the combustion characteristics of the flooring material on the thermal reaction of fire under controlled laboratory conditions.
