1. Product Overview
The dumb‑bell die cutter is a special sample‑making mould for polymer material mechanics laboratories. It is manufactured in compliance with **GB/T 528‑2009 Rubber, vulcanized or thermoplastic — Determination of tensile stress‑strain properties**. It is mainly used for punching standard dumb‑bell tensile specimens from sheets such as rubber, thermoplastic elastomers and soft plastics as well as thin films.
The punched specimens can be tested with tensile testing machines to obtain key mechanical indicators including tensile strength, elongation at break and stress at given elongation. It is an essential pre‑processing tool for rubber material testing.
The die cutter cannot work independently. It shall be used together with manual, pneumatic or hydraulic sample punching machines to punch standard dumb‑bell specimens in one stroke. It guarantees high dimensional consistency of specimens and reduces dimensional errors caused by manual cutting, so as to ensure repeatability and reliability of test data.
2. Standard Models & Specifications (GB/T 528‑2009)
According to the national standard, dumb‑bell die cutters have 5 standard types: Type 1, Type 1A, Type 2, Type 3 and Type 4, suitable for rubber specimens with different thickness and hardness.
1 Overall length 115 mm, end width 25 mm, narrow parallel section width 6 mm. For general thick rubber specimens, widely used in general laboratory tests.
2.Overall length 100 mm, end width 25 mm, narrow parallel section width 5 mm. The most commonly‑used type in the industry for conventional vulcanized rubber tests.
3. Overall length 75 mm, end width 12.5 mm, narrow parallel section width 4 mm. For medium‑small‑size specimens and sampling of small rubber products.
4. Overall length 50 mm, end width 8.5 mm, narrow parallel section width 4 mm. For limited‑space testing and small‑size samples.
5 Overall length 35 mm, end width 6 mm, narrow parallel section width 2 mm. For thin rubber and thin‑film specimens.
Standard specimen thickness: Type 1, 1A, 2, 3: 2.0±0.2 mm; Type 4:1.0±0.1 mm.
Besides national standard sizes, die cutters complying with ISO 37, ASTM D412 and other overseas standards are available, and non‑standard customized sizes are supported.
