Aircraft seat cushion flammability testing machine
I. Compliance with standards:
This is a new type of testing equipment developed and researched in accordance with the technical conditions stipulated in the national standard "AC-25-01R2 Civil Aviation Regulations of China Part 25, Appendix F Flammability of Seat Cushions" test standard. This test is aimed at evaluating the smoke emission performance of aircraft seat cushions in terms of flame spread and smoke release.
Ii. Scope of Application
It is applicable to the study of determining the fire in the cabin after a simulated aircraft crash. The flame spread is restricted by limiting the charred length of the seat cushion, and the heat release and smoke release of the seat are restricted by the weight loss rate of the seat cushion during combustion. It is also used to evaluate the smoke emission performance of seat cushions under specified conditions.
Iii. Technical Parameters
1. Test chamber: The front door is equipped with a window. It is made of stainless steel plates.
Internal dimensions of the combustion chamber: width × depth × height 1400 × 1000 ×1600 (This dimension is for reference only)
2. Sample Fixing frame: Made of 3mm thick Angle steel and flat steel, all materials are made of stainless steel. The length of the fixed frame legs is 305±3mm.
Iii. Sample Requirements:
The sample consists of a seat cushion and a seat backrest. Three samples are required for the test.
2. The seat sample is 457±3mm in width × 508±3mm in length × 102±3mm in thickness.
The cushion test is 457±3mm in width × 635±3mm in height × 51±3mm in thickness.
Iv. Combustion System: Composed of a pressure stabilizing valve, a filter, a regulating valve, a flowmeter, and a burner.
1. The sample burner is an improved spray gun type.
2. Nozzle with a spray Angle of 80°;
3. Burner conical cylinder: Installed at the end of the nozzle, with a length of 305mm, an opening height of 152mm, and a width of 280mm;
4. Burner fuel pressure regulating valve: Regulates the fuel flow rate to 0.126L/min;
5. The flame application time for the test combustion is 2 minutes.
Iv. Judgment Requirements:
At least two-thirds of the sample group's charring length must not extend from the side close to the burner to the edge of the seat cushion opposite the burner, that is, the charring length must not exceed 432mm (17 inches).
The average percentage weight loss rate of the sample shall not exceed 10%, and in addition, the weight loss rate of at least two-thirds of the sample groups shall not exceed 10%.
V. Equipment Features:
The entire instrument consists of a closed test chamber, a kerosene burner, a combustion system, an igniter, a test fixed frame, a heat flow meter test system, a temperature measuring instrument, and test software. The circuit is developed with a single-chip microcomputer, featuring high technical content and stable performance. This instrument is mainly suitable for the flammability test of aircraft seat cushions. The main components of the sample are the foam core, floating material, fire-blocking material and decorative cover combination. If the seat cushion and backrest use different material combinations, a complete sample set must be formed by combining each material for the test.
